Alan Freed, a radio Disc Jockey from WJW in Cleveland, coined the phrase "Rock'n Roll" to describe the rhythm and blues music he played during his radio show. Freed helped spread the music to his adoring listeners and in 1952 held the first Rock'n Roll concert at the Cleveland Arena, dubbed "The Moondog Coronation Ball". The concert was oversold by 10,000 tickets which subsequently created the world's FIRST ROCK RIOT.....ever since Cleveland has rocked and is the Rock'n Roll Capital of the World!
